Background Checks
How to do background checks for New Life Island.
There are three background checks that must be done on each person serving at New Life Island each summer. They are:
1. A criminal check 2. A child abuse check and 3. An FBI fingerprint check.
The first two can be done online. The fingerprint check will involve a bit more effort.
In general, when you follow the link to the proper website you will only need to complete the required information. These questions will usually have an asterisk or some other symbol telling you that they are required.

Child Abuse Background Check
Start by following this link: www.compass.state.pa.us/CWIS/Public/Home
If you don’t have one you will need to create an individual account with a username and password.
Answer the questions and follow the instructions. You will receive a certificate that shows you have no previous records.

When you get your result please email the certificate to the camp: camp@nli.org
Criminal Background Check
The camp will do all criminal background checks.
FBI Fingerprint Background Check
If you are not a Pennsylvania resident you will need to either 1. Choose fingerprinting in Pennsylvania and drive into PA for your prints or 2. Wait for staff training and we will take you to a local place for prints. We prefer that you get your prints before you come to camp but it can be difficult to do that.
Start by following this link: https://www.identogo.com/
On the first page of the website click on the blue box that says “Get Fingerprinted”
On the next page, select Pennsylvania as the state and then select digital fingerprinting.
When you are asked for a “Service Code” enter 1KG756 and click on “GO”
The next page should say, “Pennsylvania DHS-Employee >= 14 Years Contact w/Chidren.
Click on schedule or manage appointment. For employer put New Life Island, 990 River Road, Upper Black Eddy PA 18972
When asked if you have an Authorization Code, put “No”
For mailing address put your home mailing address.
When you get the page that says, “Service Summary” click on “print status”.
You will pay when you have your fingerprints taken.

Act Fast!
Please do not hesitate to get these checks taken care of. They don’t usually take very long, but there can be unforeseen delays.
Remember, New Life Island will reimburse you for the cost of the background checks. But, you must turn in the certificates to be reimbursed and to serve at camp this summer.
